| 2007 Outlook |
| |
| Shaun Seibert enters the 2007 season as one of the premier righthanded
pitchers in the Southeastern Conference … he is coming off
of a 2006 season in which he posted a 4-0 record and a 2.79 ERA that
ranked second in the conference … possesses electric stuff with a
plus breaking pitch and a fastball that explodes late in the zone …
finally appears to be 100 percent after elbow problems plagued him
during his first two seasons in Fayetteville … had surgery this fall to
remove a cyst from his right elbow … will likely fill either the
Saturday or Sunday spot in the weekend rotation … named the Cape
Cod League Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2006 after posting a 6-0 record
with a 0.39 ERA in 45.2 innings. |
| Sophomore (2006) |
| |
Seibert established himself as a member of the Razorbacks' weekend
rotation as the Sunday starter in 2006 … finished with a 4-0 record
and a 2.79 ERA in 61.1 innings … the 2.79 ERA ranked second in the
Southeastern Conference and led the Hogs … struck out 62 while
walking just 15 … led the team with a 4.1 strikeout-to-walk ratio …
the 15 walks were the fourth-fewest in the SEC … allowed just 59 hits
on the season, which was the third-fewest in the league … also
played a vital role out of the Hogs' bullpen early in the season as
either the closer or a right-handed setup man … made 10 starts and
seven relief appearances on the season, allowing just 19 earned runs,
which was the second-fewest in the conference … saw his first action
of the season at the Al Ogletree Classic in Edinburg, Texas, throwing
two innings against Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 18 … made his first start
of the season against Louisiana Tech on Feb. 25 in Fayetteville,
throwing five-scoreless innings … allowed just three hits and struck
out six to earn the win … allowed two unearned runs on four hits and
stuck out two … started his second game of the season against Texas-
Arlington on March 3 at the Rainbow Baseball Tournament in
Honolulu, Hawai'i … allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five
… did not pitch in the Cal State Northridge series with a sore elbow
… pitched 2.1-scoreless innings at Florida on March 18 to help preserve
the azorbacks' 3-2 win … did not give up a hit in 1.2 innings of
relief work against Centenary on March 22 … pitched one inning
against Georgia on March 25, working a hitless-eighth inning …
worked 2.2 innings of relief in the Hogs' extra-innings win over
Wichita State on March 28 … struck out four while allowing no hits,
walks or runs … allowed two runs in 2.1 innings of work in relief
against Tennessee on April 1 … pitched three dominant innings of
relief at Vanderbilt on April 7 … was perfect in the outing while striking
out two … made his third start of the season at Missouri State on April 11 … pitched five strong innings, giving up one unearned run off
three hits and struck out five … did not get a decision … made his
first start in SEC play this season against Kentucky on April 16 …
pitched three-strong innings until he began to tire in the fourth …
gave up four runs - all earned - on seven hits and struck out six … did
not walk a batter and did not get a decision … earned his third win
of the season at Mississippi State on April 23, pitching six-impressive
innings … gave up two runs - both earned - off six hits and struck out
three Bulldogs … made his sixth start of the season at LSU on April 30
… went 2.1 innings, giving up two runs - both earned - off four hits
while striking out three … did not receive a decision … pitched 4.2
innings allowing two runs - one earned - vs. the Tigers … worked 3.1
innings at No. 22 Ole Miss on May 14 and allowed three runs on five
hits while walking one and striking out three in a no decision … his
grandfather passed away on the evening of May 19, he then went out
and got his fourth win of the season on May 20 before returning home
… dedicated the win to his grandfather, working five innings and
allowing just one run on five hits, while tying his career high with
